How does Utterson receive Lanyon's narrative in Chapter 9?

He doesn't. Lanyon can't speak of it. Chapter nine is a transcription of what happened when Lanyon is handed a letter from Jekyll. On his and Jekyll's death he will have Utteson read the true account of what was discovered in the rooms.
