How does the author use foreshadowing in Stone of Tears?

Zedd, a powerful wizard, has found the Stone of Tears. The Stone of Tears is one of the items that prevents the Keeper from escaping from the underworld. Zedd puts the stone around the neck of a little girl named Rachel and puts a spell on it to ensure that when Richard sees it, he will be drawn to the stone.
