We are all made of stars. This isn't merely a metaphor: nearly all the elements in the human body were made in a star and many have come through several supernovas. When Archie goes into the desert to bury Barney he is putting himself there too. He knows that he too will be returned to the earth, that his bones will become part of the rock and earth: all derived from stars. Archie seems comforted by this, not fearful or angry. He has known his place all along, as does Stargirl. We never discover what the word word was on the slip of paper. We can only guess.
