Song of Lawino is satirical comment on the neo-colonial mentality of the Africanpettybourgeoisie, the intellectuals and political leaders of Africa. To enable Lawino to advance her argument forcefully, Okot gives her the gift of wit and employs Acoli poetic forms to produce a pungent work of satire.
