Jayaprakesh Muktananandaji is a friend of M. T. Krishna, Muktananandaji is a nervous young man with a thin face, thick glasses, terrible acne, sweaty hands, and a high-pitched voice. He agrees to tell his story to the American writer Robert C. "Bobby" Luczak in the university coffee house, late at night. Krishna translates from Bengali on the fly.
