What is the author's style in Somebody Else's Kids by Torey Hayden?

Tory has an honesty and passion to her writing that shows through her whole book. There are many humorous scenes and some instances of sarcasm. For the most part, the sarcasm is toned down to the level of the children Torey teaches.
