Who is Hiro Protagonist from Snow Crash and what is their importance?

Hiro Protagonist is the primary character in the story. In the first chapter, he is referred to as The Deliverator. After a Metaverse sword fight in The Black Sun, his name on the scoring list is written as Hiroaki Protagonist. Hiro's father was an African-American from Texas, and his mother was a Korean by way of Nippon. Due to his mixed race, he has light brown skin and almond eyes. Hiro lives in a U-Store-It storage unit with his roommate Vitaly Chernobyl, lead singer of Vitaly Chernobyl and the Meltdowns.
