Sean's birth is a critical event in the story. As the youngest child, Scott has never had to share his parents in the same way he will now, and he considers how much a baby will change their homelife.... not to mention how much older he is than his newborn brother. Over time, however, Scott not only comes to terms with having a younger sibling, be he comes to understand that he will play an integral role in Sean's life as well.
