The Ladder

The ladder symbolizes the long road and many steps to an opera career. It takes a lot of training, and once a person goes up one step--such as, by winning another competition--there is always another step to climb. Ultimately, the ladder displays the paradox of success: there is always another step higher to take. There is no rest.
