Silver is a unique symbol because it represents two different things depending on one’s perception. In the beginning, many believe that silver equals corruption. This is because the bones of the Children all turn to silver after their transformation. So, when Cabell and Tamsin see silver on their own bones, both assume that their hearts are too dark to save. While Cabell follows this to Lord Death himself, Tamsin realizes that the silver is not directly linked to corruption. Instead, it is intrinsically died to the power of Lord Death
