The author uses foreshadowing each time Rose's condition worsens, citing her behavior, refusal to take medication, her violent reactions, and compulsiveness, as well as her remorse for the way she treats her family and other. As time goes on the author foreshadows Rose's end.... an end that will come at her own hand.
