What failing in Siddhartha does the Buddha notice right away? What does the Buddha say?

The Buddha notices that Siddhartha is clever with words as well as a little too proud of his own accomplishments, “You are clever, O Samana...” Being clever, however, is not the path to enlightenment. Siddhartha must least that being good with words and arguments is still a part of the self that he must lose.
