What caste was Siddhartha? Why was he unhappy?

Siddhartha was on the highest level of the Indian Caste System: he was a Brahmin's son. Siddhartha felt there was more to life than pleasure of consumption and satisfying desires. Siddhartha wanted Nirvana or enlightenment. To obtain this, he had to through a quest for real knowledge.
