Ender's Jeesh is the central theme woven throughout the entire story as Jeesh members find their place on earth following the war with the Buggers. With their skills and intelligence, they quickly rise to positions of prominence. The first chapter introduces Han Tzu and his emotional struggle at seeing China as a conquered nation. He tries to tell the authorities they are making mistakes, and as a graduate of Battle School and former member of Ender's Jeesh, he asks to be given command of the military but is turned down.
