Could Shabanu have avoided her fate? How did her character determine her fate?

This question calls for your opinion. There is no right or wrong answer. Within the society that Shabanu lives, arranged marriages are the norm, and children do not second guess or disrespect their parents. I see no way that she could have avoided the path her father had set out for her.
