How does the author use foreshadowing in Seeds of Yesterday?

In Book Three, Bart mentions that he sees a bond between Chris and Catherine that can only by broken by death. The remark seems like foreshadowing, and perhaps it is. It depends on whether the reader believes Bart or Joel had anything to do with Chris' auto accident.
