Who is Amir?

Amir is an immigrant from India. He does not like America because people do not even try to get to know their neighbors. He makes the observation that Americans do not like people unless they have proven beforehand that they are friends. He confronts a woman who compliments him on his eggplants at the garden because she called him a dirty foreigner because she believes that he gave her the incorrect change at his store. She tells him that she had treated him that way because she had not known him personally then.
