Sae Young

Sae Young is a woman who immigrated from Korea with her husband. She finds healing in the garden. Sae Young and her husband never had the children they wanted to have, and then Sae Young’s husband died of a heart attack when he was 37. Sae Young continued to run the dry cleaning business until she was attacked by a man with a gun. After the attack, she was too afraid of people to even leave her apartment for two months. It was only after she discovered the garden and realizes there are still kind people in the world that she begins to enjoy being around people again. Sae Young provides funnels for the gardeners to use to pour water from the trash cans into their narrow watering cans. She feels like part of the family when she sees people using the funnels.
