In the section titled, The Twenty-first, the message in Jessica's fortune cookie is twofold. First, it confirms something she already knows. Second, it foreshadows the difficult situations that Jessica's future hold, especially if she keeps trying to fight against forming new relationships instead of allowing the relationships to form.
