Who is Bail Channis from Second Foundation and what is their importance?

Bail Channis is a member of the Second Foundation. He is a popular figure on the planet of Kalgan because of his sense of humor and good looks. Bail is one of the few people who not only make jokes about the Mule, but get away with them as well. The Mule, realizing Channis is a Second Foundation member sends him and Han Pritcher on a quest to find the planet home of Second Foundation. He hopes Channis will lead him straight there, but instead he leads the Mule into a trap.
