What did Sofie and Mrs. Donnelly do contributing to Cap's misery?

Sophie is unhappy when Cap moves in with her family. She finds him embarrassing, and he becomes an emotional punching bag for her anger over her parents' divorce. Sophie calls Cap a Freakozoid and refuses to accept his kindness. Over time, Sophie comes to realize that he father isn;t perfect and her anger is misguided.
