WhY was imamu running away

I'm not sure which of Guy's novels you are referring to, possibly The Disappearance? If so, Imanu was a suspect in the disappearance of the Aimsley's daughter. Imanu was sent to live with the Aimsleys (in their custody) after being acquitted of murder charges.
