Most people know the ending of Romeo and Juliet which makes this play full of dramatic irony. The fact that it is a tragedy also lets people know that there will be a high death count. Knowing this gives the audience or readers context enough to enjoy exactly how this tragedy comes about and the space to interpret rather than merely guess the ending.
