Dr. Wright is an ambitious man, who wants the museum to flourish under his care. He wants to be remembered by future generations as a smart, efficient director. Pendergast, however, is afraid that the party Dr. Wright has planned will set up a perfect set of targets for the killer. His fears foreshadow exactly that type of situation as the plot continues to develop.
