Who is Rab from Redeeming Love and what is their importance?

Rab is the well-meaning and ignorant companion of Sarah's mother. Rab unwittingly sells Sarah to a man he believes wants to "adopt" pretty, young girls. He is killed in front of Sarah after the transaction is completed.
