The language used in this novel is relatively simple, complicated only by the nineteenth century setting. The author will occasionally use terms that may be unfamiliar to the reader in order to maintain authentic to the time period. Because these terms are used in context, however, it is not difficult for the reader to figure out what exactly the narrator or character is referring to.
