Ian MacGregor is the MacGregor family patriarch. His Scottish spirit is said to fuel his home with pride and love. Ian is kind to his wife and children, but he is a fierce warrior when the occasion warrants. When the rebellion takes place, he is getting on in years, but he is determined to fight for the just king. When Ian dies from a wound, he asks his son to take care of his family, and he asks Brigham not to tame his "wildcat" Serena. Ian's sword is left to his young son, Malcolm.
