Squeaky has been looking out for and caring for Raymond for as long as she can remember. His running makes him an individual, it is also something he can do in which he excels....... Squeaky's smiles come from pride and excitement. Her smiles also come from the fact that through Raymond's running, she has gained and given respect to the competition..... Gretchen...... who summarily returns that respect. I do believe a friendship has begun.
