Precious finishes the stories with an untitled poem. She talks about living in a prison. Precious says she is not free because of Mama, HIV, and Abdul. All she knows is that she does not want to be where she is. She tries to think of her smart child, her children. She remembers sayings such as "play the hand you got", or "get up off your knees". These bits of inspiration come from her role models. However, she gets to the heart of her poem and, in a few words, states that her life is like a ticking time bomb. She has HIV. She is doomed regardless of what she does to better her life.
