Who is Mia Thermopolis from Project Princess and what is their importance?

Mia is a fourteen-year-old high school student who lives in Greenwich Village, New York. Mia found out recently that she is actually the princess of a country called Genovia.

Mia is a strong-willed teenager and she doesn't give in without a fight. She is determined to go on the school trip and doesn't leave her mother alone until she is given permission. Mia is persistent, and she is good at reasoning and explaining herself.

Mia has two close friends- Lilly and Tina. Mia is a loyal friend and they have a lot of laughs together. Mia's boyfriend is Michael, and she thinks the world of him.

Mia's unique talent is that she writes everything down in her diary. She is a very good writer, although she is not convinced though writing is a useful skill. Mia writes for the school newspaper, though she hasn't been allowed to publish any articles yet.

Mia is somewhat of a princess in the sense that the campsite is below her standard of living, but she gives it a chance and she gets into the swing of it. She is also a princess in a different sense: she wants to do volunteer work and make a difference in people's lives. Mia is not afraid of hard work and she wants to contribute her share along with everyone else.
