The novel doesn't contain a male character who fulfills the definition of an "ideal" man. Darcy is without doubt both prideful and prejudiced; Wickham is an evil man, who is untrustworthy and dishonest. Elizabeth's father, Mr. Bennet, is complacent..... he allows his wife to do as she pleases and he seems uninterested in the consequences, and Mr. Collins is portrayed as obnoxiously proud. As a result, I have to admit that the only male character I find endearing is Mr. Gardiner..... an honest, forthright, respectful and well-mannered man.
