In Pride and Prejudice, Miss Bingley embarrasses Miss Darcy on several occasions. When Elizabeth walks all the way to Netherfield to see her sister Jane, Miss Bingley makes fun of her for coming alone and on foot. She also ridicules her when Darcy compliments Elizabeth's fine eyes. All of this makes Elizabeth want nothing to do with any of them, finding them vain, shallow, and while wealthy, considerably ignorant when it comes to human nature.
