How does the author use foreshadowing in Pictures of Hollis Woods?

In Chapter Two, Hollis draws numerous pictures of Steven because she can never seem to get them quite right. She attributes her problem to the fact that Steven showed her what it would be like to have a brother for the first time. Her difficulty in "getting it right" illustrates that Hollis wanted to become part of the Regan family and foreshadows that there was an event that caused her to run away from them.
