Socrates meets Phaedrus while on a walk outside Athens and entices him to engage in discussion about the speech written by Lysias. Socrates has a vast knowledge of philosophy as well as rhetoric. He has developed the habit of asking questions in such a way that answers lead to vital conclusions while forming principles and rules.
