Solim is one of Usbek's black slaves. Usbek's absence gives Solim great joy, as it affords him the opportunity to punish the women Usbek's wives as he wishes. Solim writes to Usbek after the head eunuch dies, informing him that the head eunuch asked him the keep Usbek informed about the events in the seraglio.
