Who is Antoine Richis from Perfume and what is their importance?

Antoine Richis is a very wealthy widower living in Grasse. He is in the midst of arranging a marriage between his daughter, Laure, and the son of a Baron. He then hopes to marry a noblewoman himself.

Laure is Richis' most treasured love, and he believes that the person who is murdering young women in Grasse is ultimately after his daughter. Unfortunately, he is correct, as Laure is Grenouille's final target.
