Who is Quentin Jacobsen from Paper Towns and what is their importance?

Quentin ("Q") is the main character and narrator of Paper Towns. Q grew up with Margo, but as they grew up, they went their separate ways. Q is described as thoughtful, smart, careful and level-headed. He plans carefully for the future, despite his propensity for being late. Q can be self-absorbed and obsessive, but in general, he is seen as a fundamentally good, kind, intelligent and confident, young man.
