Pamela, or, Virtue Rewarded

Is Pamela a sympathetic character? Do you feel sorry for her? Or do you have hard time sympathizing with her struggles? Explain

In my opinion, Pamela remains a sympathetic character even when she makes mistakes that leave us shaking our heads and wondering why she chooses to do some of the thing she does. Pamela is a young woman who needs to work. In context, jobs for young women are limited and unlike modern times... there isn't another job waiting when you walk away from the first.

In addition, when Pamela runs away, she gains our sympathy.... and yet, when she suddenly turns full circle and returns after an offer of marriage, we are left to question whether she has motives of her own.
