Clarkston changed in many ways, as their town became home to refugees from all over the world. Different cultures opened new and different restaurants and stores, mosques appeared down the street from churches, bourkas and jalabibs were prevalent fashion statement required by Islam. Traffic problems increased, and refugees resented having to adhere to traffic rules.... going so far as organize against the police who were enforcing laws. Many long time residents began moving away or staying inside. Many people also embraced the newcomers and welcomed cultural differences.
