Was Ransom virtuous?

Ransom is an explorer and an adventurer. He is often reckless in his curiosities, which gets him into trouble. In the end Ransom is virtuous. He has a philosophical mind that frequently causes him to criticize his own motives and sense of reality. In the end Ransom does do the right things earning him the respect of Malacandra.
