Why is it so important to Andy that he tells others the real reason that onion John left?
Andy wants people to understand that he left because of him and his father..... because they'd told Onion John that an "oak fire" was senseless. Onion left to follow his own dreams, without anyone pushing what they thought was right on him. In this same way, Andy will do the same. (pg. 227)
In addition, Onion John wants to run away because he feels that the citizens of Serenity have "evil spirits," but Andy's father says Onion John should stay so that people will keep on being "goodhearted."
