George is the most likely of all characters to be the protagonist because of all the characters in the novel, is is the most 'normal' of them all. Lennie is too simple, Slim too good to be true, Curley is vicious, and Candy/Crooks are both too wrapped up in their own misery to allow anyone else into their world. Also, George is the only one that is dynamic (he undergoes a change).
