What does George's conversation with Slim reveal about his past treatment with Lennie?

They are both misfits and outcasts. George is an outcast because of his having to care for his brother and Lennie is a misfit because of his mental disability. We learn about the prejudices, the misunderstandings, and the careful supervision that George has to provide. He unburdens himself with Slim and we learn how lonely and sad George is, and we realize what sorts of sacrifices he's had to make.
