In my opinion, "Of Mice and Men" is a much more appropriate title than "Something That Happened", as the latter lacks any distinct connection to the themes of the novel. The title, "Of Mice and Men", is actually quite clever as, while it manages to capture the essence of the novel's plot, its simplicity is also reflective of Lennie's innocence. The title, "Something That Happened", on the other hand suggests that the author didn't have any better ideas, and so he made the title as vague as possible.
of mice and men actually comes from a poem by bobby burns stating the the best laid plans of mice and men always go astray this is paramount in the book as it epitimizes george and lennie's efforts being a simply a dream and nothing more, in other words it will always go wrong
