Norah Nesbit from Of Human Bondage is the girl that Philip meets after having been devastated by Mildred's exit from his life (the first time). She is everything that Mildred had never been and even though they begin as friends, after a while it becomes more than that. Philip enjoys her company but never quite falls for her the way he did Mildred. Later, when Mildred comes back into the picture, she steps aside so that Philip can pursue Mildred again. Later, when he realizes what a bad decision that had been and tries to reconnect with Norah, it is too late. She's marrying someone else.
