Who is Creon in Oedipus the King by Sophocles?

Creon is Oedipus' brother-in-law and uncle. He is Jocasta's brother, and a well respected citizen of Thebes. It is Creon who is commanded visit the temple of Apollo at the start of the play, in oder to find out what must be done to appease the gods.
