Oedipus rex (opera)

Explain how Oedipus’s response to Creon arrival reveals a key character trait for each character (Oedipus and Creon). Which trait do you feel is more effective for a ruler to have?

In Scene One? In this scene, Creon attempts to speak with Oedipus privately, to reveal what he has learned in a decorous manner, which will allow Oedipus to process the information separate from the crowd. Oedipus' pride and self-confidence, however, leads him to demand Creon speak in front of the crowd.... Oedipus, thus, has backed himself into a corner.

In context, Creon's desire to tread lightly and confer with Oedipus before announcing his findings seems to be the more effective trait. Note, this is my opinion.
