What cultural values do you find inherent in the notion that Odysseus is a hero?

Cultural values, such as morality, fidelity, and bravery transcend time and geography. Odysseus exhibited fidelity in that he refused to succumb to the various seductions that came his way. Additionally, he stood for what he believed in even if it meant he would face more danger. And, in the end, he did not allow his faith to become less because of the trials he went through.
