Finn is Tessa’s Son. He symbolizes her fear of the present and the future. His mother worries about his future because of the state of Northern Ireland. She also worries about his health. By the time the narrative ends, she is not so preoccupied with these fears. Finn does not have these fears himself. This shows her growth and her ability to take part in life instead of fearing the outcome of living it.
