In Chapter Sixteen, Roosevelt and Churchill discussed the problems of French politics. Henri Giraud represented the French forces in North Africa and Charles De Gaulle was the symbol of French resistance. De Gaulle did not want to be seen with Giraud, but eventually agreed to come to Casablanca. He was even photographed shaking Giraud's hand.
